Alexis Vogel Makeup
For the girls: when you feel the need to look like Pamela Anderson … no, that's not it.
Okay: not all people on the big or small screen fall out of bed looking fabulous at every possible moment. Good "bones" and facial structure aside, a close inspection of film and television stars reveals that nothing much goes, well, unenhanced — hair and face for starters. If you've ever thought you could benefit from the same treatment — or a quick trip to a top-notch Hollywood makeup artist — let's just say we've found Alexis Vogel's makeup line to be excellent.
Alexis Vogel is a Hollywood makeup artist with her own line of makeup; she's "done" such famous personages as the aforementioned blond bombshell, as verified by Ms. Anderson herself in Alexis' infomercial. Better yet, Alexis now offers her makeup line to We The Public from her website. Consumer time!
Alexis' Complete System is a large collection of her makeup products in a handy carrying case with three zipped pouches: from foundation to eye shadow to mascara, big crayons, lip liners, eyebrow gels, brushes, sponges — you name it — plus a full-color booklet and two instructional videos (one's a real surprise — more about that later). As to quality, we like them: the products do what they're supposed to do, and seem to last a long time. And let's face it: there is nothing quite natural about putting makeup near your eyes, but we've not experienced any sensitivity to Alexis' makeup line.
Pricing? Not bad at all. Certainly far better than your general department store prices; you can get refills, any combination of individual items, and receive them fast at your door. And existing customers get periodic announcements of new products by email.
So, how put all this stuff on? There's the rub with any makeup product. Somehow in the grand scheme of things, we're all supposed to just know how to replicate a "look" or to enhance our own unique looks and support our own unique styles, as if we're born with this knowledge. Given that most of us are not makeup artists — and old habits can die hard — it's good to find that Alexis' Makeup video explains all. Our guess is that you'll be surprised, but we'll say no more.
Another big surprise from the Complete System makeup kit is Alexis' Hair & Lashes video. Not surprisingly, it's hard to look your best when your hair doesn't, but Alexis shows us how to get that "I am tousled aren't-I-sexy" hair as well as her trademark "cat eyes" look.

I also found makeupbyalexis.com, which has a phone number. Although that website does not seem to sell products, if you have concerns, you might start there. Let us know what you find.

Alexis Vogel has nothing to do with her old line of makeup. At makeup connection -Alexis is not affiliated with that company at all. They cannot use pics or hers much less makeover pics of hers.

This is all so confusing. Makeup Connection does still sell her instructional DVD and she is on it. I go to the makeupbyalexis website a lot to see if there is a clue of what is going on. Her website remains the same with no changes and completely dated information. It's as if it the website was abandoned. I really do hope Alexis is just staying quiet until she surprises her fans with an even bigger and better kit and dvd!

I did decide to visit amazon.com in the end. Although, as you said, these products would most probably have come from makeup connection.com, regarding which there has clearly been some controversy, I figured it would be better than nothing. And seen as I've never experienced the products when they were being sold from the official site I really would be none the wiser. And Barbara Olmedo – quoted above – sounds as though she is still a very satisfied customer. Unfortunately, the only product of Alexis Vogel's on offer at this site is an instructional d.v.d and it really is the actual make-up itself that I am after. I have been to various 'As seen on t.v.' sites who say they offer the complete system, but when you click on the product either nothing happens, or it says 'this product is unavailable'. It is all very confusing. I went to makeupbyalexis.com and e-mailed all the addresses provided but they were instantly redirected to my inbox. For some reason when i used the eyepopper pencil it started to burn the inside rim of my eyes. hmm????? My mother had the same problems. Theres alot bigger difference in the quality of makeup from makeup connection compared to the original site. Makeup connections ordering process is through online only. Alexis gave us a service number in case of questions about the products etc. Im dissapionted because the original products before MKUP CONN. Were AMAZING!!!!! These products are definitley not the same!!!

I agree with many of the comments… The quality of the makeup that they try to sell off as alexis vogel makeup at makeup connection is just not the same as the original alexis vogel collection. I am very disapointed because i absolutely loved her products and the crap they sell at makeup connection does not do any justice..

I have been back to Alexis's website recently and there has been a lot of stuff added. To my disappointment still no mention of a new makeup line. Oh well. I will keep checking back. In the mean time I do wear the makeup connection version. I still think their foundation stays on all day which is always a problem for me.

DO NOT BUY FROM MAKEUP CONNECTION! Their products are NOT the original formulas! The original formula was a highly pigmented, professional-grade, waxy foundation that gave coverage! When I ordered more after the site had changed to makeupconnection.com, the foundation was crappy! It was not smooth and waxy and when I TRIED to apply it to my face, it didn't cover well and looked terrible. I couldn't even wear it, because I looked like a poor soul who didn't know anything about makeup, but tried and failed. I can't even describe the smeary ucky look that it had on my skin. I was curious about why it was totally different, so naturally I read the ingredients. There is your answer! The ingredients were very different. And…they had added fragrance, which I knew, because that was the first thing I noticed. The original smelled like it should- just waxy. I don't put fragrant things on my skin. The foundation wasn't the only problem. The lipstick was not even close to the original either. The original kinda stained your lips. I don't like the feeling of lipstick, so I always wiped off my lipstain after applying it (the color literally stained my lips, so I could apply it and then wipe it off and voila! I still had the color stained into my lips, but less layers of stuff on my lips). Anyway, the new "lipstain" they sent was a joke! It was a cheapo lipstick- not even close to the original. It did not penetrate the lips, just sat on top. And the lipgloss also seems alot stickier and smells different- doesn't perform like the original either. I was very perplexed at all this, so I tried to contact the company. Finally, someone returned my email saying that I could return the products for a refund. But I knew better than that. By that time, I had figured out I wasn't the only one who noticed a change in the products. Some people were not getting their shipments, etc. I didn't spend the money to ship the stuff back, because I knew I would probably never get a refund. I could tell they were swamped with complaints…obviously more than they could handle. If anyone is happy with makeupconnection's products, then they don't know makeup! They really never knew the original products. I have searched to find professional grade makeups like the original and I found some at costume places online. One of the brands is KRYOLAN- they are professional grade products. They are like the original AV. The inconvenience is that you don't know what color to get. AV had the perfect color. What I have done with the KRYOLAN is get a mini palette of lots of shades, and I had to mix a couple of shades to get a color similar to alexis's original. Once I could see which 2 or 3 colors I needed, then I would order the larger amounts of those. The ingredients, of course are generally the same as AV original formula, because it is professional makeup. And this makeup is alot cheaper, because it is not marketed to the public for everyday use with a kit and instructions about how to be glamorous everyday and all of that. Alexis was brilliant to market this type of makeup toward us with a kit and instructions- there is a need for it. What happened and how it happened, I don't know- but I know that people who get stuff from makeupconnection don't know what they are missing. Some people try it for the first time thinking it is AV makeup, but they are not impressed with it. They think they have just been robbed (which they have), but they don't realize that once upon a time there were AV products that were indeed everything they claimed to be. If you want to find a truly similar makeup, try Kryolan.

I ordered the Light Kit way back when they were changing wearhouses. I was on the phone for days trying to get my order BUT I did get it! I honestly love Alexis Vogel products. I am a model and ONLY use these cosmetics for ALL my shoots. The photographers rave about them! (: Once they switched websites to makeupconnection.com I ordered from them. I am a little sad to see my lip stain color gone but the products are the same, some are even UPDATED! Hope I have helped.

I never tried alexis's make up only because I have extremely sensitive skin and didn't want to take a chance of a break out. However I did purchase her how to video and the make up bag, I was able to get the same look with the make up brand I was already using and the make up bag is a life saver with the divider bags.

It is July 31, 2008. I am 38 years old, and have used MANY different makeups. I ran across info on Alexis Vogel makeup kit and video. I also have read the conflicting comments about makeupconnection.com, and decided to take a risk and order it on the chance that it is quality items, and will be shipped to me on time! I do not order alot of things online, but I ordered the kit today. It did give me the opion of picking my colors for every item (which I believe someone said that you didnt have that opion.) The site does state that it ships out the product that day, or the next. Keep your fingers crossed for me, and I'll let ya know what happens. (and keep in mind, I have NEVER tried what it referred to as the 'original' products, unfortunaltly!)

Rhianoon, and anyone interested: I ordered my Alexis Vogel makeup kit from Makeupconnection.com on Aug 3. I just received an email informing me that UPS has it, and it will be delivered on the 8/6. I checked with UPS and they do infact have it and it is in transit. So, will see what it is like when it gets here, if all products are included, and all other info that may help out. By the way, I do not know if there is a connection with how you choose to pay and the problems some people have reported, but I ordered using PayPal. Give ya more info when I receive my kit! Marie

Rhianoon and any one else thats interested about ordering from Makeupconnection.con: I ordered my Alexis Vogel kit on Aug. 3 by PayPal, and I recieved my kit on Aug 6th. I DID recieve all items that I ordered. As for the quality, I am sadly disappointed. The foundation feels good on, not like a thick coating, and did not sweat off in moderate heat. I did however wear off after 5-6 hours, and it DID NOT cover good! I have average dark circles under my eyes, and it did not cover at all (even with the concealer), and the same for any blemish or large pores. And by the way, I also ordered the foundation prep which was supposed the elimate large pores, and it still did not deliver. I used the eyelash prep, then put on the mascarae, and as soon as I opened my eyes, the mascarae smudged all over, and continued to melt all over my eyes throughout the day. The blush is the same as any blush, same with the eyeshadow, and the brushes. Lip liner did not go on well, and the lipstick wore off fairly quickly. The dvd did not enlighten me on anything, maybe a couple simple things that wouldnt make that much difference anyway. My advise it that this makeup does not deliver, and is definately not worth the time or money!! Can get the same results from the better makeups at Walmarts, etc..(CG, Revlon,or at Department stores). I watched the dvd 2 times, and also wore the makeup 2 times just to make sure. SADLY Disappointed!! Anybody know of a good coverage foundation that doesnt cake, sweat off I'm all ears.

Sometimes it takes a few lessons, but I do know a foundation that doesn't come off in water even. Or sweat. Its also totallly natural. 100 percent natural. Its called Bare Escentuals and they are the heavy foundations with all the chemicals that clog your pores. You can watch videos on QVC or on t.v even when Leslie The Preisident of Bare Escentuals demonstrates how to put on the minerals. It improves skin and leaves a luminous look. I never had many compliments on foundation the first time I used that and my mineral veil which is a lumionous look also, I was told I looked so good. The foundation in the stores are so full of garbage that ruins your skin. Bare Escentuals you can sleep in because its pure minerals and it lets your skin breath and actually helps your skin. So sleeping in it is actually great for your skin. \Hope that helps Marie

You kind of have to go through the "front door" of the website, but a search for "Bare Escentuals" yields some … interesting information which it might pay to look at if you're going to use these products.
Then again, I'm not saying that anything else is better. <sigh>

I have ordered through makeupconnection and it is definitely NOT the same formula or look. It's better than nothing, though. I really wish Alexis would come up with a product like her old makeup. I stopped ordering for awhile because her makeup lasted so long that i needed to hold off, on scheduled deliveries. Once I ran out of the products I had to order from amazon and the colors and products were the same.(must of been what was left before makeup connection started trying to create a cheaper version of alexis) A lot of time went by and I had to order from Make Up Connection. The dvd with alexis was terrific and the makeup was as good as or better than anything I've ever gotten from sephora, especially the foundation. I've gotten so so many compliments!! I just tried to order by credit card at makeupconnection site. When I clicked to confirm order, a error page came up. I then called the number. I got a message to leave name and # and someone would call me back. It\'s been about 2 hours and no call. I did not try to order again because I thought, \"what if the order really did go through\". I am concerned about my credit card information. I wish I would have came to this site and read all the posts before I tried to order. I am so disappointed Alexis had to let her line go. No one has called yet, but I got an email confirmation on my order. So even though I got the error page when I clicked to confirm order…the order did go through. I'm so glad I did not try to place another order to see if it would work. The older we get..the wiser. I ordered 3 eyeshadows and a concealer. The concealer is what I really needed…never tried the other. I will definately know if the concealer is not the same. I'm scraping the bottome of what I have left…so I will save the rest for a comparison.

I was actaully searching for Alexis products and came across this posting. I ordered the kit back in 2005 and loved it. I ordered from Makeup Connection in 2007 and hated it. If the you call the 800-number it tells you to leave a message and that's a red flag to me since it was the same way in '07. I did come across the original formula on ebay and was lucky enough to get several foundation trios at a crazy low price. Otherwise I would suggest Eve Pearl until Alexis comes out with a new line. Eve is more money but the amount and packaging is worth it. Also, she is an Award winning makeup artist with a makeup studio in New York, she has a website, an amazing book, and videos on youtube and is waaaaay better than Alexis as far as makeup instruction. I ordered the complete kit prior to 2005 and loved it. It was amazing and it lasted a long time. When I recently tried to re-order some of my favorite products I was horrified to find that Alexis is no longer producing her fantasic products. Some company called Makeup Connection is selling stuff claiming it's Alexis Vogel makeup but I can tell the difference and their customer service is non-existent. The colors and textures are not correct. I still have one of my old catalogs and cannot find those wonderful products anywhere. Alexis, if you read this, we really want you back in control and producing your wonderful products. I will buy them as soon as you start your line again. Anyting less is just disappointing.

OK, ladies. For those of you who did not have the pleasure of experiencing Alexis Vogel's original line of make up and are not sure if Makeupconnection is truly producing her products, here is a quick way to tell. (First, I never discard an empty container until I have a new one to replace it.) Good thing I still have my original empty eye shadow container. The first thing is the size difference: original is 50.06mm diameter, 18.07mm tall. The actual product was 34.80mm in diameter. The net weight was 3g. The original "Dare" color code was 551.
The "counterfeit" size is 37.63mm diameter, 10.33mm tall. The actual product is 26.45mm in diameter. Net wt is 2g. The "Dare" color code is now 550 and yes, the ingredients are different. There are more chemicals in the "counterfeit". If you would like a listing of both, let me know. I'll be happy to provide it.

I have done some research on Makeupconnection.com & so far have read nothing but negative comments about their company, so I know I will not be ordering from them. Does anyone where I can purchase the DVD from?

Oh yes, Ebay is another avenue I've tried and I always get outbid. I've found many videos or sale there but the problem that 99% of the time, they ae VHS.
